About

**AKC Breeders Of Merit**

Dune has had a passion for showing, breeding and raising amazing Cardigan Welsh Corgis since 1999. Yolanda and Jesse Loveland live now, in north central Washington State. The new home boasts over 2.5 acres of beautiful forest and pasture land, with the USFS land stretching out behind it. A wonderful place to grow Champion Cardigans! Yolanda has served as board member and trophy chair for Northwest Cardigan Fanciers, and is a member of the Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club Of America.

Auri – Aurigan Miss GoodNite, ROMB (Ch. Claymore’s Diamonds R Forevr x Ch. Windshyre’s Tapestry) was the start of it all. Bred by Dayl Phillip of Aurigan Cardigans in Bellingham, WA, Auri wiggled her way into Yolanda’s heart from the first bark. She is the mother to at least 7 AKC Champions, and multiple performance title winners, including Ch. Dunes Fade To Blaque, Am/Int Ch. Aurigan Thunder Rolls, CD RN CGC, and Ch. Aurigan Ms Midnite Tailbrite. Auri loved, loved, loved, LOVED to show. She had a rather unfortunate lack of white markings and with her extreme angles (including awesome shoulder layback), she was often over looked for the points. Auri is now retired. Pictured below at 1 year old.

Reign – Aurigan When Diamonds Reign (Ch. Aurigan Cap’n Crunch x Ch. Shadowalk PV Ellusion)  is who encouraged the Dune kennel name. Reign had the brightest clear blue eyes. Yolanda’s favorite movie is Dune, and the characters in the movie have ‘blue within blue eyes’ – plus they lived in the desert, so Dune seemed very appropriate. Reign had only one litter but had two champions in that litter – Ch. Tarea Blue Diamond of Dune – 2013 Runner-up Blue Bitch in Megan and the Ch. Dunes Bluereigndrop Skihill Boy who is a multiple group placing Cardigan.  Reign was a mover!  She picked up two 5 point majors and almost obtained her championship title, but alas, Reign did not enjoy showing and retired early.

LE – Int Ch. Kennebec Dunes Limited Edition (Ch. Joseter Grassanmore, ROMG x Ch. Kennebec Red Oak Remember) gave Dune two litters and Claymore/Rememberance kennels a litter. LE is Token’s mom. She had a little tooo much fun in the show ring, and never took it seriously. She had an ultra-feminine headpiece that was so pretty. LE is now retired. LE is pictured at 4 years old.

Hunter – Am/Can/Int Ch. Aurigan Dunes National Treasure, HCTs (Ch. Phi-Vestavia Koltrain x Am/Can/Int Ch. Aurigan Mantle Out Of Thin Air, HCTs) is the Cardigan who taught Yolanda how to show better, and gain confidence in her presentation. He was also Dune’s first owner-handled AKC  and CKC Champion. He is a joy to live with, an eager loyal friend and happy companion. He constantly amazes and lights up any dull day. Hunter won his first Best of Breed at 6 months an a couple days old, over specials. He is a fabulous showman, loving every minute of the ring.  Hunter has presence and style. He is also a multiple herding group placer. Hunter was ranked 3rd  in Canada in 2009. And ranked 5th in Canada for 2011. Hunter seems to excel in any sport we try. Herding seems to be right up his alley. He was awarded Best Of Breed in Richland, WA at the NWCF supported entry in 2009.  Hunter lives at Dune. Hunter is pictured below at 6 months, and under that at over 6 years.

Sally – Am Ch. Pecan Valley Mustang Sally is co-owned with Dayl Phillip of Aurigan Cardigans. Sally is a very special girl who stumbled rather gracefully into our midst. She is the winner of the 2007 CWCCA National Specialty Puppy Sweepstakes – thank you breeder Judge Cindy Bossi. She was shown sparingly and claimed all major wins to her championship title. This girl floats on air!  Her first litter with Ch. Shadowalk Deacon produced Bella – Sally’s first  – and only – champion kid. Sadly, Sally never was able to have another litter. Sally is now retired.

Bella – A GCh./Can Ch. Aurigan Dunes Celestine Blue is from Sally’s first litter. We are very excited for Bella’s future! She also was shown sparingly and had three major wins included in her AKC championship. She recently claimed her Canadian championship as well.  Miss Bella will continue to be in the limelight. Her first weekend as a special, she was awarded a 5pt major Select. She was awarded a huge award at the 2011 CWCCA Nationals in Houston, TX – Runner Up Blue Merle Bitch in the Megan competition which is an AKC champions only competiton.  Bella is a mover, just like her momma Sally. She has huge stride length, plus she is clean coming and going. **News Flash** Bella has gained her Grand Championship and becomes Dune’s first to achieve such an honor.  Bella now lives on the East Coast with Sarah Davis of White Raven Kennel.

Token – Dunes Not All Treasure Is Silver And Gold was owned by both Jesse and Yolanda .  Token is from Hunter’s first litter and out of LE. In fact, he was THE first puppy born in the litter, and the only black puppy in the litter. A special little guy indeed. Token won Canadian points at his very first show with Jesse. At his second CKC show, Token went Best of Breed over special, then went on to a Herding Group 3 win and Best Puppy in Herding group! Two weekends later, he took back to back 4 and 3 point Majors in Seattle, WA 2011. And to add to his lovely winning streak, he received two 2nd place wins at the 2011 CWCCA National specialty in Houston, TX – one from the 12-15 sweepstakes class, the other from Bred- By Exhibitor. He then went onto finish his Canadian Championship and then his American Championship before 17 months of age. He was ranked #4 in Canada for his very limited showing!  He won the 2011 CWCCA Northwest Regional Specialty Best Puppy In Sweepstakes under judge Vivan Moran, and that same day was WD/BOW for a 5 point major under judge Kay Reamensnyder, while being handled by Angelia Hall. Token then went onto win Select Dog his first time in the ring as a special, over nationally ranked specials – at the 2011 NWCF Supported Entry. Token has two litters in the US, with frozen semen for a couple more litters possibly in the future. Token – the superstar – now lives in Finland with Hinni Welin of Myth Maker kennel and Tarja Peltola, where he has excelled in the show ring and as a sire.

The Cardigans of Dune are screened for multiple health clearances to ensure healthy companions. We are very proud of the dogs we show and breed. We have been deemed Breeders Of Merit thru the AKC.
